17-Year-Old Arrested After Loaded Handgun Recovered in North Charleston

North Charleston Police officers on proactive patrol near Midland Park Road and Stall Road on July 9 stopped two males riding bicycles without required lights. One cyclist fled, was chased and detained; officers recovered a handgun from his waistband loaded with one round in the chamber and five in the magazine. The 17-year-old was charged with possession of a handgun by a person under 18 and released to a parent on a custodial promise pending court.
