19-year-old charged after two stolen handguns found during New Kensington traffic stop
Police found two firearms reported stolen from New Kensington after a traffic stop and vehicle tow prompted an inventory search and a subsequent search warrant.
New Kensington police stopped a vehicle on 7th Street for an unusually loud exhaust and discovered driver Ralph Scott Jr., 19, and a juvenile passenger lacked valid licenses. After the car was towed, officers found a Glock with an extended magazine in the center console and, following a search warrant, a loaded .45-caliber handgun under the passenger seat; both firearms were reported stolen from New Kensington. Scott faces charges including possession of a firearm prohibited, receiving stolen property, firearms not to be carried without a license, driving without a license and a traffic citation; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
