21-month-old girl pronounced dead after medical response in Hanover Township

Hanover Township police and emergency crews responded July 17 to an unresponsive 21-month-old girl on River Road in the Lincoln Heights section; she was transported to Geisinger South Hospital and later pronounced dead. An autopsy is pending.

On Friday, July 17, 2026 at approximately 1:02 p.m., Hanover Township Police responded to River Road in the Lincoln Heights section for an unresponsive 21-month-old female child. Hanover Township Medic 9 and the Hanover Township Fire Department performed life-saving efforts; the child was transported to Geisinger South Hospital in Wilkes-Barre and was later pronounced deceased. An autopsy is pending; the incident is logged as case 26-3585.
