Ancient sea fossils on Everest spark online Noah’s Ark debate
Fossils found near Everest’s summit are circulating on social media as evidence of the Great Flood, but geologists say they reflect the mountain’s seafloor past.
Ancient marine fossils embedded in rocks near the summit of Mount Everest are drawing renewed attention after social media users pointed to the discovery as a possible link to the biblical story of Noah’s Ark and the Great Flood. Geologists, however, say the fossils are long-established evidence of plate tectonics and the mountain’s origins on an ancient seafloor, Yahoo! reported.
