Free program for adults to learn police operations through interactive workshops, demonstrations and a ride-along.
The Cherry Hills Village Police Department will hold a second Citizens Police Academy in 2026; classes begin Aug. 27 and graduation is scheduled for Nov. 5. The free program meets Thursday evenings with two Saturday sessions, offering hands-on training and demonstrations in policing tactics, crime-scene processing, SWAT and K9 units, emergency vehicle operations, investigations, self-defense/firearm safety, traffic and impaired-driving enforcement, technology, and a patrol ride-along. Applicants must be at least 18, complete a criminal history check, sign a liability waiver, and attend at least 80% of classes; applications are reviewed first-come, first-served and class size is limited.
