A free, hands-on program to connect Cherry Hills Village residents with police through demonstrations, lectures and ride‑alongs.
The Cherry Hills Village Police Department is hosting a second Citizens Police Academy in 2026. Classes run Aug. 27 through graduation on Nov. 5, meeting Thursday evenings with two Saturday sessions. The free program covers policing tactics, crime scene processing, SWAT and K9 demonstrations, emergency vehicle operations, investigative procedures, self‑defense/firearm safety, traffic enforcement and technology, and includes a patrol ride‑along; applicants must be 18, pass a criminal history check, sign a waiver, attend at least 80% of classes, and are accepted first‑come, first‑served.
