Police arrested a suspect after a July 9, 2026, armed robbery at the Marathon on Route 51 in Rostraver Township where two men — one armed with a machete — stole about $116.
On July 9, 2026, two men entered the Marathon gas station on Route 51 in Rostraver Township just after midnight; one jumped over the counter, brandished a machete and the clerk surrendered a register drawer containing about $116 before the pair fled in a black vehicle. Investigators linked the same pair to a prior unsuccessful attempt at a nearby BP and used surveillance images — including distinct Nike shoes — to identify a suspect. On July 20 detectives in Elizabeth Borough contacted and identified Benjamin Probst of Elizabeth, who allegedly confessed; he now faces charges of robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and simple assault. Charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
