Before You Light the Fuse — Know the Law

South Lebanon Township Police remind residents that consumer fireworks are restricted under Pennsylvania law and outline where and how they may not be used.

As Americans mark the 250th Anniversary and Independence Day, the South Lebanon Township Police Department urges a safe, responsible celebration and reminds residents that Pennsylvania restricts consumer fireworks. Fireworks are illegal within 150 feet of any occupied structure or vehicle, on property without the owner’s permission, while under the influence, when directed at people/animals/vehicles/buildings, or in any way that creates a hazardous condition. Residents should be considerate of neighbors, report illegal or unsafe use to the non‑emergency number (717-272-2054), call 911 for emergencies, and know violations can lead to citations, fines, and confiscation.
