Bensalem police bring 'Behind Closed Doors' trailer to back-to-school nights
The Bensalem Township Police used a simulated child’s bedroom trailer to help parents spot early warning signs of substance use, mental health struggles, abusive relationships and other at-risk teen behaviors.
Throughout September, the Bensalem Township Police Department showcased its "Behind Closed Doors" trailer at Back-to-School Nights at Bensalem High School, Shafer Middle School and Snyder Middle School. The simulated child’s bedroom gives parents a hands-on look at warning signs of substance abuse, mental health issues, abusive relationships and other at-risk adolescent behaviors, and offers conversation and intervention strategies. The events highlight collaboration between the Bensalem Township School District and police to increase parental awareness, provide resources and keep students and the community safe.
