Berks County man charged after armed burglary, pistol‑whipping and kidnapping in Warwick Township
A second suspect, Luis Angel Lopez Jr., was arrested after a June 28 armed home invasion in Warwick Township in which a man was pistol-whipped and two 14-year-olds were held at gunpoint; he’s accused of firing a gun, taking hostages and forcing a couple to drive him to Berks County.
U.S. Marshals arrested 37-year-old Luis Angel Lopez Jr. in Northampton County and charged him with numerous offenses, including robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault and possessing a prohibited firearm, after an armed June 28 burglary in a Warwick Township residence. Investigators say Lopez and an 18-year-old co-defendant, Hector Luis Martinez Jr., held victims at gunpoint — pistol‑whipping a man, threatening two 14‑year‑old boys, fleeing with stolen items, and later forcing a couple to drive Lopez to a Berks County address. Lopez is jailed awaiting arraignment and is being held on a Berks County parole detainer; Martinez faces separate charges.
