Borough reminds public: most fireworks banned inside Chambersburg
Town Council adopted a local law on March 27, 2023, banning the ignition of most consumer fireworks inside the Borough while allowing sales and permitting professional displays.
On March 27, 2023, Chambersburg Borough Council adopted a local law, enabled by Pennsylvania Act 74 of 2022, that prohibits igniting most consumer-grade (Class C) fireworks anywhere inside the Borough though retail sales remain allowed. Ground and hand-held sparklers, novelties and toy caps are still permitted; anyone 18 or older may purchase fireworks. Professional display fireworks require a permit from the Land Use and Community Development Department at Borough Hall (the Memorial Park Fourth of July show uses permitted professionals), and violations are enforced by the Chambersburg Police with summary offenses subject to a $500 fine.
