Bushkill Township PD: Fireworks Safety Reminder for America’s 250th

The Bushkill Township Police Department reminds residents and visitors celebrating America’s 250th birthday to follow Pennsylvania fireworks laws and safety practices. Pennsylvania allows consumer-grade (Class C) fireworks—such as firecrackers, Roman candles and bottle rockets—which contain no more than 50 milligrams of explosive composition; display fireworks (devices over 130 milligrams or aerial shells over 60 grams) are restricted to licensed professionals. The department lists prohibited uses (including discharging within 150 feet of an occupied building or vehicle, directing fireworks at people, or using them while under the influence) and offers safety tips—purchase from licensed dealers, follow instructions, use fireworks in open areas, keep water or an extinguisher nearby, supervise children, never relight duds, and soak used fireworks before disposal—and asks that unsafe or illegal activity be reported to the Bushkill Township Police Department.
