Bushkill Township Police: Fireworks Safety Reminder for America’s 250th
As America marks its 250th anniversary, Bushkill Township Police outline what fireworks are legal in Pennsylvania, prohibited behaviors, and safety practices to prevent injuries, fires and property damage.
The Bushkill Township Police Department reminds residents that Pennsylvania permits consumer-grade (Class C) fireworks—such as firecrackers, Roman candles and bottle rockets—containing no more than 50 milligrams of explosive composition, while display fireworks with greater explosive amounts are restricted to licensed professionals. The department warns against igniting fireworks without property owner permission, directing them at people or buildings, discharging within 150 feet of occupied buildings or vehicles, or using them while impaired, and urges following manufacturers’ instructions, purchasing from licensed dealers, using fireworks in open areas with a water source or extinguisher on hand, never relighting duds, and contacting the police to report unsafe or illegal activity.
