Catasauqua Hydrant Flushing Begins Week of April 20, 2026
The Borough will flush fire hydrants systemwide beginning the week of April 20, 2026 to remove sediment, record water pressure and maintain the water system; residents may see water running in streets and temporary discoloration or reduced pressure.
Beginning the week of April 20, 2026, the Borough will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the system.
During this time, you may see water running down the street. Although it may appear to be a waste of water, this is an important preventative maintenance activity that helps maintain the integrity of the water system and allows us to continue delivering water to our customers.
Hydrant flushing is performed to remove minerals and sediment that naturally accumulate in water mains over time. This process also allows the Borough to check and record water pressure to ensure proper operation of the system.
What to expect:
- Temporary discoloration of water
- Reduced water pressure
- Water running along streets near hydrants
If you experience discolored water, run your cold water tap for several minutes until it clears. We also recommend avoiding laundry during flushing periods, as discolored water may stain clothing.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we perform this essential maintenance.
