On May 8, 2026 a catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of East Main Street in Mechanicsburg; the victim identified the converter at a local scrap yard by distinctive markings. The seller was identified as 40-year-old Charles Hymer, and a criminal warrant (issued May 26, 2026 by Mark W. Martin) was obtained after Hymer could not be located; he was later taken into custody in Montgomery County, incarcerated at the Montgomery County Prison, and appeared for a preliminary hearing on August 13 where his charges were bound over for county court.
