Columbia Borough Police Enforce Fireworks Laws Ahead of July Fourth
Police remind residents fireworks are prohibited on borough property and must follow state and borough safety rules.
Columbia Borough Police remind residents that fireworks may not be set off on borough property — including streets, sidewalks and parks — noting fireworks have caused serious fires in the past. The notice specifies that fireworks cannot be ignited or discharged without the property owner's permission; cannot be discharged from or within a motor vehicle or building or toward a motor vehicle or building; cannot be discharged within 150 feet of an occupied structure; and cannot be used while the person is under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance, or another drug. For more information the department points to the Pennsylvania State Police fireworks safety page and the Columbia Borough ordinance.
