Columbia Borough Police remind the public that fireworks may not be set off on borough property, including streets, sidewalks and parks, and note that fireworks have caused serious fires in the past. State and local rules also prohibit igniting fireworks without the property owner’s permission; discharging from or within a motor vehicle or building; discharging toward a vehicle or building; discharging within 150 feet of an occupied structure (even if no one is present); and using fireworks while under the influence. The notice links to the Pennsylvania State Police fireworks safety page and Columbia Borough’s ordinance for more information and wishes residents a safe July Fourth.
