Columbia teen charged in fatal Linden Street stabbing
Seventeen-year-old Joshua D. Flores was arrested and charged with criminal homicide after a man was stabbed to death on Linden Street earlier this month.
Joshua D. Flores, 17, of the 600 block of Avenue G was arrested Sunday and charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence after Anthony Stoy-Velazquez was found fatally stabbed in the 200 block of Linden Street during the early morning hours of July 8. Investigators say multiple tips, eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage identified Flores; an eyewitness described a confrontation that turned physical and then the stabbing, and police allege Flores later disposed of his cellphone and sent texts about “going on the run.” Judge Frank Ember denied bail at a preliminary arraignment and Flores remains in the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center; Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams praised the investigation and noted some details were kept sealed to protect the probe.
