Cooling station open in Highspire Borough during power outage
Borough Building available for residents to cool off, charge devices, and access drinking water while PPL works on restorations.
Highspire Borough has opened the Borough Building at 640 Eshelman Street as a cooling station from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.; residents may cool off, charge essential electronic devices, and access drinking water. PPL estimates restoration times ranging from a few hours to as late as Tuesday evening, and estimates may change as crews continue repairs. The Borough asks residents to check on elderly and medically vulnerable neighbors, to call 911 for heat-related medical emergencies, and says it will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
