The City of Corning Police Department will take a proactive approach to reduce speeds on city roadways and urges drivers to stay within posted limits to protect lives. In 2024 there were 11,288 fatalities in speeding-related crashes — a 5% decrease from 2023 — accounting for 29% of traffic fatalities; speeding involvement was highest among 15–20-year-olds (39% of male and 20% of female drivers), 37% of motorcycle riders overall and 56% of motorcycle riders aged 15–20, and 87% of speeding-related fatalities occurred on non‑interstate roadways.
