In 2024 there were 11,288 fatalities in speeding-related crashes — a decrease of 5% from 2023 — accounting for 29% of traffic deaths; young drivers (39% of male and 20% of female drivers aged 15–20) and motorcyclists (37% overall, 56% for ages 15–20) showed high speeding involvement, and 87% of speeding-related fatalities occurred on non‑interstate roads.
