Cortez Observes Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month
Cortez Police Department shares crisis resources and promotes two local RISE Southwest events supporting mental health during Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month.
The Cortez Police Department is marking September as Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month, reminding residents that suicide is a leading cause of death and that help is available via the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org); in emergencies, call or text 911. The department is promoting two community events: a RISE Southwest rock-painting evening at ZU Gallery (48 West Main St.) on Sept. 11 from 6–9 p.m., and the 5th Annual RISE Southwest Walk at Montezuma Park on Sept. 12, featuring breakfast, resource tables, music and speakers, crafts, memorial bead necklaces, sidewalk chalk messages, and a ribbon arch honoring loved ones.
