Creating Cultures of Growth: Hanson Center Visiting Scholar Mary C. Murphy
Murphy’s research shows organizational cultures shape mindsets and can either promote learning and inclusion or reinforce threat and inequality.
Mary C. Murphy, the Hanson Center’s visiting scholar, will be giving a campus presentation on “Cultures of Growth: How the New Science of Mindset Can Transform Individuals, Teams, and Organizations.” Murphy’s research demonstrates that mindsets are deeply shaped by local organizational cultures—such as classrooms, workplaces, and teams—which can either foster learning, collaboration, and inclusion, or reinforce threat and inequality. 4:15-5:30 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 22 • Kirby Hall, Room 104 • MORE
In partnership with CITLS, Murphy will also hold a workshop for faculty on creating “Classrooms of Growth.” 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fri., Oct. 23 • Pfenning Alumni Center, Wilson Room • REGISTER • MORE
