‘Cultures of Growth’: Mary C. Murphy named Hanson Center 2026–27 Visiting Scholar
Indiana University psychologist Mary C. Murphy will serve as the Hanson Center’s 2026–27 Visiting Scholar, and her book Cultures of Growth is the fall 2026 Inclusive STEM Reading Group selection.
The Hanson Center is pleased to announce 2026-27 Visiting Scholar, Mary C. Murphy, an internationally recognized scholar and Wells Endowed Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University. Murphy’s research demonstrates that mindsets are deeply shaped by local organizational cultures—such as classrooms, workplaces, and teams—which can either foster learning, collaboration, and inclusion or reinforce threat and inequality.
