On June 25 the DeLand Police Department was re-accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation for another three years with 'Excelsior' status, marking the second time the department has received this designation. Department representatives appeared before a sub-committee and the full commission to answer questions; 'Excelsior' status is the commission's highest recognition and is awarded only to agencies independently verified as operating at the highest levels of transparency, accountability and professional policing.
