On June 25 the DeLand Police Department was re-accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation for another three years, earning 'Excelsior' status for the second time. Department representatives appeared before a sub-committee and the full commission to answer questions about the agency's assessment. 'Excelsior' denotes the commission's highest level of recognition for agencies independently verified to operate at the highest levels of professional policing, transparency and accountability.
