Delaware River water safety reminder for holiday weekend

Solebury Township Police remind people heading to the Delaware River to wear properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard‑approved life jackets (PFDs) at all times on the water and note that children under 12 must wear a life jacket while underway on any vessel. The advisory warns that inflatable tubes and rafts are not substitutes for life jackets and offers safety tips — use the buddy system, check river and weather conditions, avoid alcohol, wear water shoes, supervise children closely, enter the water feet‑first, and know your limits. In an emergency dial 911; officers will be monitoring river areas over the holiday weekend.
