Do you have to give a wedding gift for a second (or later) marriage?

Dear Miss Manners: Is there a protocol requiring sending wedding gifts no matter whether it’s the person’s first, second, third, etc., wedding? I’ve heard no mention of whether this was a large church wedding. The bride and her mother are classless.
