Donald David Cornelious arrested after stolen-van chase in Shrewsbury
Police pursued a stolen Maryland van on July 4; the driver fled into a marsh and was captured after a multi‑agency search.
On July 4, officers located a van reported stolen from Howard County, MD, and attempted to stop it in the area of East Forrest Avenue and Mt. Airy Road; the vehicle fled and the pursuit ended in a Tractor Supply/Phantom Fireworks parking lot where the driver and passenger exited as the van struck a parked car. The passenger was captured after being tased and taken to WellSpan Shrewsbury Hospital; the driver, identified as Donald David Cornelious, scaled a retaining wall and hid in marshland before being found just after 6:00 p.m. Cornelious, who admitted using crack during the pursuit and had an Anne Arundel County escape warrant after cutting off an ankle bracelet, was charged with felony fleeing, felony agricultural crop destruction, felony receiving stolen property, fugitive from justice and other offenses; bail was set at $20,000 and he was committed to York County Prison.
