Elevated fire danger in Northeast Pa. through early Thursday
The National Weather Service warns of elevated fire spread risk in parts of Northeast Pennsylvania through 4 a.m. Thursday due to gusty winds, low humidity and dry fuels.
The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 2:48 p.m. on Wednesday for elevated fire danger until Thursday at 4 a.m. for Northern Wayne and Southern Wayne as well as Bradford, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne and Pike counties.
"The combination of dry fine fuels, southerly wind gusts of to 20 to 30 mph, and relative humidity values as low as 20 to 35% will contribute to an elevated risk for fire spread on Thursday for Northeast Pennsylvania. Be sure to heed any local and state burning regulations. This statement has been issued in coordination with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources," according to the weather service.
