The Ephrata Police Department charged 68-year-old Victor L. Bottenfield of Ephrata with Simple Assault (M2) and Disorderly Conduct (S) after officers responded to a disturbance in progress on the 900 block of Rettew Mill Road on June 21, 2026 at 12:39 p.m. Police say Bottenfield made threats while holding an approximately 15.5-inch steel rebar post; charges were filed through MDJ Landis' office on June 25, 2026. Bottenfield is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
