On September 3, 2026, a Pocono Township police officer observed a red ATV traveling the wrong way on SR 611 in Swiftwater. The officer activated emergency lights and sirens but the ATV sped away and escaped via a power line access road off Back Mountain Road; investigations later identified the operator as 32-year-old Ernest A. Mastria. Charges filed in case number 2026-00010193 include fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer (M2), careless driving, and driving on a suspended license.
