Ethan McKenzie arrested on theft, receiving stolen property, false ID and marijuana charges
A man seen on surveillance taking a cell phone at the Mechanicsburg library was later identified, arrested and found with the stolen phone and a small amount of marijuana.
On June 19, 2026, a cell phone was reported stolen at the library on North Walnut Street in Mechanicsburg and surveillance footage showed a male taking the device. On June 24 an officer spotted a man wearing the same clothing from the video; the suspect gave a false name but was positively identified as 26-year-old Ethan McKenzie, who had active warrants. A search of his backpack, incident to arrest, turned up the stolen phone and a small amount of marijuana; McKenzie was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, false identification to law enforcement and possession of a small amount of marijuana, taken to Cumberland County Prison and arraigned with $4,000 secure bail pending a preliminary hearing.
