Faith Community Prays for DeLand Officers as Faith in Blue Week Begins
Local clergy and pastors honored and prayed for DeLand Police Department leaders and patrol officers in the days before Faith in Blue week.
On Oct. 3, 2026 the Concerned Clergy of West Volusia invited DeLand Police senior command and members of the Patrol Division to Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church to honor the department and pray for officers; attendees included Chief Jason Umberger, Deputy Chief Adam Kisthardt, Captain Prurince Dice, police chaplains Reggie May, Mike Modica and Michael Wycuff, and members of D Squad. On Oct. 8 pastors gathered at First Assembly of DeLand to pray over Chief Umberger, Captain Prurince Dice, Captain Juan Millan, Lieutenant Jean Casseus and patrol members, asking for officer safety as Faith in Blue week began Oct. 9. Faith in Blue, launched in 2020 with the DOJ Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, aims to strengthen ties between officers and residents; the department thanked the Concerned Clergy of West Volusia, First Assembly of DeLand and local congregations for their support.
