Faith Community Prays for DeLand Officers as Faith in Blue Week Begins
Local clergy gathered to honor and pray for DeLand Police Department leaders and patrol officers ahead of Faith in Blue week beginning Oct. 9, 2026.
On Oct. 3, 2026 the Concerned Clergy of West Volusia hosted DeLand Police senior command and members of the Patrol Division at Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church, where leaders including Chief Jason Umberger, Deputy Chief Adam Kisthardt, Captain Prurince Dice, chaplains Reggie May, Mike Modica and Michael Wycuff, and D Squad were recognized and prayed for. On Oct. 8 pastors met at First Assembly of DeLand to pray over Chief Umberger, Capt. Prurince Dice, Capt. Juan Millan, Lt. Jean Casseus and patrol members as Faith in Blue week — a DOJ COPS‑partnered initiative launched in 2020 to strengthen community‑police ties — began Oct. 9; the department thanked the congregations and clergy for their support.
