Fatal shooting in Austell on Dr. Luke Glenn Garrett Jr. Memorial Highway
An adult male was found with an apparent gunshot wound on Dr. Luke Glenn Garrett Jr. Memorial Highway and later died at a hospital.
On September 14, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Austell Police officers responded to the 6000 block of Dr. Luke Glenn Garrett Jr. Memorial Highway and found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was given emergency aid on scene, transported to Wellstar Cobb Medical Center, and later pronounced deceased. Detectives from the Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit are assisting; the investigation is active, believed to be an isolated incident, and there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
