WASHINGTON — Former White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination Wednesday, refusing to answer questions during a contentious Senate hearing led by Sen. Rand Paul that focused on the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the virus’ origins, The Hill reported. It marked the first time Fauci has declined to testify during more than 250 appearances before Congress over his decades in public service.
