FBI warns scammers posing as agents using fake websites to target fraud victims
The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center warns that scammers are posing as FBI agents — even creating fake websites — to reach and defraud victims.
The FBI is warning Americans of several new scams designed to convince targets that the FBI is helping them, when in reality, it’s part of the scam. That’s according to a public service announcement from the FBI’s actual Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) issued Monday.
