National Weather Service warns of a heat wave July 2–6, 2026; Columbia Market House will open set hours as a cooling location.
The National Weather Service in State College warns a heat wave likely will bring a heightened risk of heat-related illnesses from July 2–6, 2026, especially for people without adequate cooling or hydration. Residents are asked to check on elderly neighbors and others without air conditioning. The Columbia Market House will be open as a cooling location Thursday 7/2 and Friday 7/3 from 11 a.m.–3 p.m., and Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
