Officials warn of upper-90s heat and urge hydration, shade, sunscreen and other precautions for Lititz’s 250th Semiquincentennial 4th of July events.
A joint message from the Warwick Emergency Services Commission, Lititz Borough Emergency Management, Lititz Borough Police Department, Lititz Fire Company, Warwick EMS, Lititz Lions Club, the Lititz 4th of July Committee and Mayor John George warns of upper-90s temperatures and a high heat index for July 4th. Officials urge attendees of the parade, day-long events in Lititz Springs Park and the evening fireworks to hydrate early, wear light clothing and sunscreen, seek shade or air-conditioned spaces, use cooling gear, monitor for signs of heat illness, protect vulnerable people, avoid sitting directly on hot asphalt or concrete, and consult a doctor if they have chronic conditions; the World Health Organization’s Extreme Heat Initiative is listed as an additional resource and media contact is [email protected].
