Hundreds of local residents enjoyed Heritage Day festivities in Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township Saturday, where a variety of activities coordinated by volunteers and supported by sponsors celebrated not only the Saucon Valley’s history, but also the semiquincentennial of the United States in 2026.

The events were spread out across two venues: the Heller-Wagner Grist Mill complex in the borough and the Michael Heller Homestead in the township. The Hellertown Historical Society, Lower Saucon Township Historical Society and Saucon Valley Conservancy were all involved in planning the day’s schedule, which included Colonial era artisans, re-enactors, live music, food trucks, children’s activities, local history-focused talks, museum tours, a petting zoo, horse-drawn wagon rides and more.
