Illegal pop-up party? Help us shut it down
York City Police ask residents to report illegal pop-up parties advertised on social media that create public-safety hazards.
York City Police warn that illegal “pop-up” parties, unlawful nightclubs and for-profit gatherings—often promoted on social media—are increasing and can cause noise, overcrowding, traffic and parking issues, fire-code hazards, alcohol- and drug-related offenses, violence and property damage. Residents who see advertisements or know where an event is being planned should submit an anonymous tip through the department’s secure online tip portal and may upload screenshots, videos or flyers; call 9-1-1 if the event is happening now or is an emergency. When supported by investigation and evidence, organizers and others involved may be investigated, cited or arrested for offenses such as disorderly conduct, operating an unlicensed business, fire and occupancy code violations, alcohol licensing violations, trespass or burglary.
