Irwin man arrested after search warrant uncovers meth, psilocybin grow

On July 10, 2026, Irwin Police and Westmoreland County SWAT executed a search warrant at 219 Main Street and discovered a cooler containing a psilocybin mushroom grow operation, vials of mushroom spores, crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, THC cartridges, pills and various drug paraphernalia. Eighteen-year-old Zadyn Smith was charged with drug possession and possession with intent to deliver; his 16‑year‑old live‑in girlfriend’s access to the narcotics prompted charges of corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children. Smith was remanded to Westmoreland County Prison on $500,000 bail; charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
