Irwin man charged after search uncovers meth, psilocybin grow operation
A July 10 search of a Main Street Irwin residence uncovered a psilocybin mushroom grow, methamphetamine and other drugs; an 18-year-old was arrested and jailed on multiple charges.
On July 10, 2026, Irwin Police and Westmoreland County SWAT executed a search warrant at Zadyn Smith’s Main Street residence and found a cooler containing a psilocybin mushroom grow operation, vials of spores, crystal methamphetamine, pipes, marijuana, THC cartridges, pills and other drug paraphernalia. Smith, 18, faces charges including drug possession and possession with intent to deliver; because his 16-year-old live-in girlfriend had access to the narcotics he also faces corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children, and was remanded to Westmoreland County Prison on $500,000 bail.
