Ja'Mya Latavia Nelson arrested after Marshalls shoplifting and vehicle pursuit
A North Charleston woman was arrested after police linked her to repeated shoplifting incidents and a vehicle pursuit that began June 30.
Ja'Mya Latavia Nelson, 24, was arrested July 18 after police tied her to multiple shoplifting incidents and a vehicle pursuit that began June 30 following a Marshalls loss-prevention report. Officers say Nelson ignored commands to exit the car, led a pursuit through Rivers Avenue and Ashley Phosphate Road onto Highway 78, ran red lights and a stop sign, and later was detained at Northwoods Mall after an alleged theft at The Children’s Place. Stolen merchandise and documents linking her to prior Greenville County shoplifting cases were found in the vehicle; she faces three shoplifting counts, one count of failure to stop for blue lights, had additional shoplifting warrants, and was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
