Japan names 40°C days "cruelly hot"
Japan will label days reaching 40°C or higher as "cruelly hot" (kokusho-bi) as extreme heatdays rise.
Japan's weather agency announced on Friday that days with temperatures of 40°C (104°F) or higher will be designated "cruelly hot" (kokusho-bi). The new label reflects the increasing frequency of severe heatwave days across the region.
