Joe Budden branches into true-crime podcast
The rapper and commentator who rose to fame in the 2000s and built a $20 million podcast network is expanding into true-crime programming.
Joe Budden likes to keep his finger on the button — literally.
Inside a luxury condominium in Edgewater last month, he mashes his pointer finger into his laptop’s keyboard, unleashing a flurry of horns, whistles and gunshots — sound effects that announce the start of a new recording of “The Joe Budden Podcast,” his wildly popular music, pop-culture and social commentary show. The booms and bangs pile on top of each other as his introductory hip-hop beat swells behind them, a dizzying wall of noise that signals the show has officially begun.
