On October 9, 2026, Caernarvon Township officers responded to a disturbance at the Sheetz at 3830 Main Street in Morgantown and arrested 70-year-old John P. McNeill after a witness and video showed him striking another man with a metal baseball bat. McNeill admitted removing the bat from his truck and turned it over to police; the victim had a fresh wound to the top of his head. McNeill faces aggravated assault and seven additional charges, including aggravated assault with a weapon, simple assault, possession of an instrument of a crime, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment; all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
