Joint Safety Message for 4th of July Activities in Lititz Borough
Local emergency services and community groups issue heat-safety guidance ahead of Lititz Borough’s Semiquincentennial 4th of July events.
A coalition of Warwick Emergency Services Commission, Lititz Borough emergency and public safety agencies, community organizations, and Mayor John George warn of upper-90s temperatures and a high heat index for July 4th and urge attendees of the parade, day events in Lititz Springs Park, and nighttime fireworks to take precautions. Recommended steps include hydrating early, wearing light clothing and sunscreen, seeking shade and cool spaces, using cooling gear, watching for signs of heat illness, protecting vulnerable people, avoiding direct contact with hot asphalt or concrete, and consulting a doctor if you have chronic conditions or take regular medications.
