Judge allows Smucker’s lawsuit over Trader Joe’s frozen PB&J to proceed
J.M. Smucker alleges Trader Joe’s frozen peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches copy the shape, sealed edges and packaging of its Uncrustables brand; Trader Joe’s calls its product a “squircle.”
Trader Joe’s is facing a lawsuit from the parent company of a well-known PB&J sandwich brand — and a federal judge has just cleared it to proceed. A federal judge ruled that J.M. Smucker can go ahead with the lawsuit against the popular grocer over frozen sandwiches that Smucker’s says are too similar to its well-known Uncrustables brand.
